We are looking forward to a weekend of spectacular riding, and we really hope that all you intrepid souls who have entered the 50km Extreme Challenge have done some training on the hills!

Trail News

We thought we would take this opportunity to pass on the update from our awesome trail building team, headed up by Chris from All Out Adventures:

It’s often I’m out designing, repairing and marking trails, so it’s a pleasure to be in the reporter’s seat for a change.

Good news – The rain is slowing the trails are drying and we are nearly on top of the brush cutting. Hopefully just one more barrel of 2 stroke will see us through the growing season, and then it’s trail prep time for the Royal Drak Challenge.

This year’s challenge is to open the High Traverse Trail that will link the 50k Extreme Route from Montusi to the Cavern via Alpine Heath. This will create a smoother route that will ease the congestion on the tar road and create a solid link that connects two major trail heads with an inspiring contour route.

We are very fortunate that most of our trails are accessible to riders year round. The great appeal of our trails is the awesome flowing track in one the South Africa’s most scenic locations. To make this available to the increasing number of visiting riders, a clear and concise graded marking is a must. This year an upgrade of the marking is planned for the four main routes:
Gypsy’s Bend 15km (Current Gypsy’s Bend Trail will combine with The Acacia Meander to create a 15km beginner route)
Montusi Gorge 20k
Berghouse. 30k
Grotto 30k
The marking of these four routes will be extended so that the names of the routes appear for the entire route. This should make routes easier to follow.
Riders who enjoy designing their own trails can still use the map to mix and match.

On line vs Late Registration
